As
winter comes to an end, we have all been reminded how cold winter
weather, as well as hot summer weather, drives our energy bills up. Even
though there are many agencies and programs in place to help individuals
pay their bills, many still have problems meeting the higher winter
costs.
A
method which has gained support throughout the nation to help low income
families to pay is an emergency fund created by our customer donations.
These funds are distributed by the county Need line offices or other
agencies familiar with emergency needs. In Calloway County this is
called E.N.U.F. (Emergency Need line Utility Fund).
West
Kentucky RECC would like to help facilitate this fund in all the
counties we serve, if customers wish to pledge to these funds. Funds
received in each county will be returned to that county.
Each
customer will have an opportunity to add a specific amount to each
monthly bill to fund this program. You may pledge as little as one
dollar per month or as much as you would like. If you want to contribute
to help others who cannot pay their utility bills, simply fill out the
