Getting Service
Are there any fees due to receive
electric service?
Yes. a
$5 Membership Fee is due
if you are not already a member. If you already have a
current membership, you do not
have to pay the fee again.
Do I have any forms to fill out?
Yes. You will need to sign an application form.
Do I have to come in to get service?
Yes, request for service should be made in person at one of our offices. You may
download
the application , print it and bring it in,
along with a picture ID.
What do I need to do to get electric
service to my house?
If there has been power
to the house
before and there is an existing meter, come into one of our offices and sign an
application for service. If applicable, a membership fee must be paid at this
time also. If the customer owns the house, a reconnection fee of $15 is due at
time of application. If the customer is renting the house, an additional
deposit of $125 is required at time of application.
If there has been no electric service at
this location before, please call or visit the Member Services Dept. in our
Mayfield office.
What do I need to do to get electric
service to my mobile home?
The
same fees apply as above, with a few exceptions. Please call or visit the Member
Services Dept. in our Mayfield office.
I am putting in a new mobile home....can I
put the meter pole next to the home?
No. Please follow the guidelines

a copy of the wiring specifications .

No longer is USE-2 cable permitted to terminate on an inside panel. Cable type USE-2 RHH or RHW must be used if direct buried or THHN or THWN if in conduit to protect wiring.

I am a landlord...does the tenant pay all
deposits?
That is up to the landlord. He may do it this way and keep everything in his
name, but we do not advise this procedure. It usually works much better for the
tenant to pay the deposit and fees and put the service in his/her name.

Stopping Service
Do I need to give a notice before discontinuing service?
Yes. Usually 24
hours is
sufficient for discontinuation of service.
I am moving....does my membership
transfer too?
Yes. If you are moving to
another location within West Kentucky RECC's service area, your membership
will transfer as long as service is kept in same name.
I am moving.....does my deposit move too?
No. Your deposit, if required, will
not transfer if you move.

Security Lights
How do I get a security light?
If you have a current membership and active
service with us, simply call our Mayfield office
for information.
How much does it cost to get a
security light?
If there is a WKRECC pole on
the property, we can install a mercury vapor or sodium light for a $25 connect
fee, plus approximately the first years charges for usage and maintenance.
If there is no WKRECC pole at the location and you want
the light, we can
install a pole for $150, plus $25 connect fee, and approximately the
first years charges
for usage and maintenance. All fees must be paid in advance for the first
year. Prices may vary depending on type of light.
How much does it cost a month for a
security light?
It depends on which light you have installed. (see above)
Am I obligated for a length of time for a
security light?
No. However, if
light is discontinued, it cannot be reconnected for a period of one year.

Surge Protection Program
How do I get enrolled in the Surge Protection Program?
The enrollment must
be initiated in our Mayfield office only.
How much does it cost to start the Surge Protection Program?
The
whole-house unit can be installed at most homes for a $20 installation fee.
How much does it cost a month for the Surge Protection Program?
$5 per
month is added to the customer's electric bill.
Am I obligate for a length of time for the Surge Protection Program?
Yes.
There is a minimum enrollment period of 3 years.
